Finding Peace in the Midst of Anxiety
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." – Philippians 4:6-7
This week, I have been meditating on these verses. Fear has a way of creeping in at every turn, and if I’m not vigilant, it can become all-consuming. No matter what is happening in life, uncertainty has the power to stir up anxiety and worry in an instant.
But worry and anxiety do not add anything to our lives—they only take away from them. Stress and anxiety can have real, negative effects on our health, and worst of all, they offer us no real control over our circumstances.
One of the most powerful ways I have found to combat worry is through prayer. Surrendering my burdens to the Lord brings peace in a way nothing else can. Sometimes, I have to do this minute by minute, hour by hour, and day after day. Other times, I pray once and feel immediate relief. No matter how often I need to turn to Him, I find comfort in knowing that my Heavenly Father listens, cares, and is pleased with every prayer and every attempt to surrender my worries.
Let’s rest in Him today, friends. Happy Friday.
